One of the most powerful ways to grow your business is through the use of Profession Introductions. You can greatly increase your number of opportunities to give and receive referrals through Professional Introductions.
Now, before I elaborate on what a Professional Introduction, or “PI”, is, let me first explain what a PI is not.
It is not a **referral**. A referral is what you get when someone in your network introduces someone to you with a specific product or service that they believe you need or want. Conversely, with a PI you do not need to know anything about anyone’s ‘business needs or wants’. A PI is not a referral, but a referral is a type of PI. See the difference?
In a referral, there is an assumption of need. In a PI, there is no assumption that the person I am being introduced to will ever need my services. However, if I am able to make that person an advocate of my business, then they are more likely to refer me to someone who has a need for my product or service.
Whenever you have the opportunity to make a PI, do so. Most people will appreciate the gesture.
At a recent ‘Pimms & Lemonade’ evening, organised by Karen Garrattley (COS Bookkeeping) and hosted by Ralli Solicitors, Karen introduced me to Raja Pitalia, (Business Manager at Pall Mall Medical). Raja and I arranged a follow up meeting. By the close of our meeting we had agreed to help each other’s business, me with a PI to a Hanif Lula (Frieths Law firm) and Dion O’Byrne (Intercity Technology). Raja gave me a PI his companies FD to review their merchant Fees and invited me to attend Pall Malls networking event. More PI opportunities!
Why you should make professional Introductions every week.
The reason is so simple, the more PIs you make the more referrals you will receive, How cool is that?
So, why aren’t you making more professional introductions and referrals each week? Set a goal to make a certain number of ‘PI’s each week and prepare to be pleasantly surprised by the result.
