Today members of Downtown In Business and the Management of Huntleys Country Stores encouraged members and guests to ‘hit everything today and in the future with a relentless and progressive force; to always keep pushing towards success, and continual progress, through both happiness and hardship, with strength of character and unyielding resolve’ – In other words RISE & GRIND.
Katharine Smith (Operations Manager, Huntleys Country Stores) and her team greeted everyone with freshly brewed coffee and baked ‘on site’ Danish pastries.
Roger Jonas (Downtown In Business) introduced Carmen Parkinson (Referral Institute) to the early grinders. Now wide awake, we all particiopated in Carmen’s practical demonstration of ‘group profiling’ with a few regulars easily falling into character (Roger Jonas, Glen Fendall, Cornel Sampson!)
Carmern then continued on discuss effective networking in an amusing but very informative and practical way. She explained how to use a technique called the ‘pincer movement’ and how to avoid ‘spiritual vampires’. Carmern also demonstrated how effective my personal networking skills/results were or not as the case may be – very enlightening.
Everyone was encouraged to continue networking and tour the great facilities that the country store has to offer. Every member of staff on site offered morning greetings and were very accommodating. Huntleys Country Store is definitely worth a visit for more reasons than ‘just shopping’.
