I arrived at the Stanley ground a little earlier than usual as I was booked onto the Business Leagues presentation slot and a1:2:1 meeting with Fiona Leaver. Director/Owner at The HR Dept Burnley, Pendle & Hyndburn
As enthusiastic as ever, Berni Roscoe called the meeting to order – the room was buzzing with ‘open networking’.
As we took our seats Berni called out the announcements
Jo Fulthorpe representing Hyndburn Enterprise Trust delivered a short punchy message at pace. The Hyndburn Trust was the only member of the government pilot scheme to achieve its targets. Jo operates at two speed settings – Fast forwards and Faster. She always has a full diary and today was no exception. After her announcements she bid us all goodbye and sped off to another engagement.
Penny Heys updated us on the college’s latest achievement, scoring amongst the top rated scholarly establishment nationally. This was based on student achievement rates. Well done students and ACCROSS.
Chrissy Pilkington was her usual upbeat self, even though her foreign holiday was fast becoming a distant memory. She announced several Chamber initiatives to create opportunities for businesses to connect and trade with each other.
Table presentations presided over by the captains plus lunch.
Me next – I presented my system of building a business on referrals, through networking events and social media. My system is tailored to me and how I choose to work but it is based on grounded principals that we apply to any business activity that wishes to succeed.
I shared how I set my goals and objectives, designed a plan to deliver those goals and objectives, measure the results, make interventions, changes and reviews.
I would like to openly thank all the people who appreciated the presentation and requested more insight into my system.
We just had time for one ‘free kick’ spot – someone just wouldn’t shut up. Fiona delivered a very topical November 5th (Bonfire night) impromptu ode to HR, much to our amusement. Berni announced the winners of the spot the ball completion then blew the final whistle.
Extra time – The room remained full for what seem an age as people maybe swopped details and made arrangements for follow ups.
Another great event presented by Berni Roscoe and the team. We all look forward to the sister event a Haslingden Rugby Football Club.
I almost forgot, we were all treated to Parkin, toffee and chocolates – nice touch guys 🙂
