Entertainment at the Hangout, Winckley Square
Another networking first for me – The Business Improvement District (BID) Hangout in Winckley Square sponsored by Paranha (Creative Digital Strategy) and hosted by North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce. The weather held out and it was the perfect backdrop to a great event.
We were entertained by a duet who struggled to keep their faces straight as Chamber members milled around sipping Juice or Wine.
It’s always easy to fall into conversation with familiar faces. I said hi to Cathrine Donavan Downsize my Home, Sue Hazelle Life Time Legacy planning, Tony Raynor Abbey Telecom, Adam Davies Soap Media Nathanial Cassidy Three Man Factory, The superfast Broadband Team , Kay Knowles AMS Solicitors. In between I made a connection with Bernice Crawshaw (Virtual PA).
I managed to work my way towards Neal of the Chamber team and I asked to be introduced to someone with a ‘large centre of influence’. He took me over to Jim Baker of Jones Harris Limited Chartered Accountants. Jim introduced me to Mary Glancy Linder Myers solicitors and Martin E. Gunson Chartered Accountant. We very quickly found common ground. Jim and Mary suggested we get something in the diary very soon.
I headed towards the Barbie. On the way I met Natalie Butler Heathcotes Outside Catering. It was now my turn to do the introductions. I introduced Natalie to three key people whose business had some synergy with hers. Cathrine Donavon, Dorret Conway and Andrew Leeming. They too put ‘something in the diary’.
As I enjoyed my Burger and shared a joke with the catering crew more friends came by and said hello. The Square made a great backdrop for the Hangout. First established in 1801 as an exclusive residential area for the town’s gentry, it is now an open public park. The park originally consisted of private plots, each owned by a resident. There was an easy relaxed feeling about networking in the square, as if it had been returned to a familiar use long abandoned by its Georgian founders. I am looking forward to more ‘Hangouts’ in Winckley square.
