I use my professional connections to introduce me to people who share my interests, need my service and can go from strangers to leads to clients by taking advantage of what the social network has to offer.
One of the main challenges is that many people do not know how to broker a good introduction on LinkedIn.
Why make Introductions?
For each introduction that I make, I usually receive 2/3 introductions – Givers Gain. One of those introductions will usually convert into a client immediately – How cool is that?
Step 1 Search for someone in your LinkedIn Connections list who you think might benefit from connecting to others you know (Cornel).
Step 2 Click on the person’s name (Cornel) , which brings up their profile.
Step 3 Click “Share,” which is on the bottom left of the person’s profile overview box – Select the arrow next to ‘send a message’ and choose share from drop down menu.
Step 4 Choose a recipient or recipients who you think might benefit from a connection to this person (Joe Bloggs). You can enter an email address or click on the small book to the right of the recipient box to access your LinkedIn connections.
Step 5 Write a personalized message or use the prewritten one:
Cornel Sampson is in my local networking group, Rossendale Business League. Cornel has a specific business objective which is to build relationships with accountants and bookkeepers who would be interested in learning more about an additional service for their clients which has the potential to offer significant cost savings.
Cornel has asked that I introduce you to him as he feels that there is potential synergy between you both. I hope that this introduction is of benefit to you Joe..”
You also can select or deselect “allow recipients to see each other’s names and email addresses.”
Step 6 Send the message.
This is a great way to use linkedIn to develop professional relationships and eliminate COLD CALLING .
Brokering A Great Introduction
So why would you agree to connect with someone on LinkedIn that you do not know or intend developing a professional relationship with?
