Mick Heys, Director, Accountant and Business Adviser at Ainsworths Limited, represented my first ‘family double’. I was only made aware of the family connection, Rob Heys, hours before we were scheduled to meet – and how hard was it not to ‘compare and contrast’ the two!.
I found some similarities but equally found many differences.
Mick shares an interest in Accrington Stanley and openly admits to owning a season ticket. He confesses that his interest in soccer and sports is only as an appreciative audience (and time out with the lads).
Mick has been rewarded for his loyalty and dedication to his company by being granted a Directorship and he heads up their Accrington office. He joined Ainsworth Accountants immediately after graduating. In his company, you can sense that he is professional, proactive & approachable. His interactions with staff members appears very relaxed but respectful.
We shared accounts of experiences and joked with each other. I sat in a Network meeting with Mick later that morning. Whilst he maintained a ‘professional poise’, If you look carefully, you will just notice a glint in his eyes – ever ready to share a joke or witty retort.
Mick shared with me some of his professional goals and objectives. One of his aims is to work with some of the local charities and trusts – helping them to become more tax efficient and profitable. He also derives great pleasure from working with SME’s as well as individuals.
As it neared time for us to leave his office, Mick asked specifically how I could help his clients. He immediately understood the value of my offering and promised to introduce me to clients that fit the brief.
Mick was the perfect hosts and he consistently demonstrated his genial hospitality during the network event, offering fellow attendants tea or coffee and conversation. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Mick and look forward to working with him in the future.
